I am a civil servant, and all the current announcements being made about sweeping changes/ reform, pensions, redundancy etc are going to have a big impact on me and my colleagues.
I'd be really interested in what people on here think about the civil service, police forces, the pension system, and what's being said/ done by the government & media.
As ever, I'm happy to share my opinions, but would rather wait to hear some of honest views/ perceptions before I bias the thread! _________________

I think that whatever is done should be fair.
In the past, many public sector jobs were less well paid, but had the good pension scheme to make up for it. But in recent years, some of the complaints have been that the salaries are now in line with equivalent private sector jobs but the pension scheme is much better than most private sector jobs.
I have no idea what the solution is, and I don't envy those that have to come up with one, but the pension system is not likely to be sustainable in the future, so something must change.
However, there are many in the police and other roles that work tirelessly to better the country, and deserve to be rewarded, but it just needs to be worked out in a way that's fair to try and avoid too much of a divide between public/private sector employees! _________________
